Ministry of National Defense Reviews Support for Military Medical Personnel and Equipment in Response to 'Wuhan Pneumonia' Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo made a video call to SGT Kim Min-hyeok's parents, who attended a meeting at the Patriot missile battery defending the airspace over Seoul and the metropolitan area on the 24th during the Lunar New Year holiday, to extend holiday greetings.

On the 27th, the Ministry of National Defense formed the 'Ministry of National Defense Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters' to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection known as 'Wuhan Pneumonia.'

As the government raised the infectious disease crisis level from 'caution' to 'alert,' the Ministry of National Defense established the countermeasures headquarters with Deputy Minister Park Jae-min as the head and held its first meeting around 8 p.m. that day.

At the meeting chaired by Deputy Minister Park, the countermeasures headquarters reviewed the status of support personnel and decided to actively seek ways to support a whole-of-government response by mobilizing military medical personnel, equipment, and facilities.

The countermeasures headquarters is composed of divisions for medical support, unit management, education and training, and reserve force management. According to the Ministry of National Defense, it will carry out tasks such as civilian support and measures to block the inflow of infectious diseases into the military through daily situation checks.
