[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun urged on the 27th that "efforts to block the spread are the most important" in relation to the novel coronavirus infection.
On the same day, Prime Minister Chung visited Boramae Hospital in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, saying, "The government is taking the situation of the novel coronavirus rapidly spreading worldwide very seriously."
Prime Minister Chung emphasized, "Especially based on past experiences with MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) and SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), there is a consensus between the government and local governments that proactive and strong responses are necessary, and efforts to implement this are required."
As Wuhan pneumonia rapidly spreads globally and confirmed cases continue to emerge domestically, Prime Minister Chung visited Boramae Hospital to inspect the response status of medical institutions.
At the screening clinic, Prime Minister Chung received a report on the response situation from Kim Byung-kwan, director of Boramae Hospital, and checked the installation and operation status of the screening clinic.
He then inspected the isolation beds in the hospital emergency room, as well as the negative pressure equipment and isolation beds in the infectious disease ward.
Health and Welfare Minister Park Neung-hoo and Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon also accompanied him on this occasion.
