[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Two individuals in their 40s who lured men they met at a nightclub to a motel, secretly drugged their drinks with sleeping pills, and then stole their wallets have been sentenced to prison.
The Criminal Division 11 of Suwon District Court (Presiding Judge Lee Chang-yeol) on the 27th sentenced A (49) and B (48), who were indicted on charges of special robbery, violation of the Narcotics Control Act, and fraud, to 2 years and 6 months in prison each.
The court stated, "They lured victims to a motel, secretly administered psychotropic drugs causing loss of consciousness, and committed crimes against victims who were unable to resist, which is a serious offense," adding, "The victims have suffered aftereffects from the psychotropic drugs, making severe punishment unavoidable."
The two are accused of meeting two men at a nightclub in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, in the early morning of July 14 last year, taking them to a nearby motel, secretly putting drugs into their drinks, and after the victims lost consciousness, robbing their wallets.
It was investigated that they stole several million won in cash and fraudulently used credit cards six times over about a month from June to July last year using this method.
