[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] At around 4:51 a.m. on the 26th, a fire broke out at the Grand Ambassador Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, causing guests to evacuate. Among them, 37 guests and hotel staff who inhaled smoke were taken to the hospital.
According to the fire authorities, the major fire was extinguished at around 6:33 a.m., about two hours after the fire started, and smoke ventilation work is currently underway.
The fire started on the hotel's basement level 1. Approximately 600 guests and staff evacuated due to the fire.
The guests who inhaled smoke are reported to have suffered only minor injuries from simple smoke inhalation.
The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire once the extinguishing operations are completed.
