Trump Becomes First U.S. President to Attend Anti-Abortion Rally

According to Bloomberg, President Trump spoke at the 'March for Life' event, an anti-abortion rally held at the National Mall in Washington DC, attended by thousands.

Since the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Roe vs. Wade, women have been constitutionally recognized the right to choose abortion up to six months into pregnancy. This event, which began in 1974 the year after the landmark ruling, marked its 47th occurrence this year. It is the largest gathering of anti-abortion activists nationwide.

President Trump's attendance appears aimed at rallying the conservative base. Opposition to abortion is a strongly advocated issue among conservatives and white evangelical Christians.

In his speech, President Trump said, "The unborn have never had a stronger advocate in the White House." This is interpreted as emphasizing that he is the most forceful anti-abortion president in history.

President Trump criticized the Democratic Party, which supports abortion, saying, "When it comes to abortion, Democrats have adopted the most radical and extreme positions."

Meanwhile, since his inauguration, President Trump has appointed Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, both holding anti-abortion views, as U.S. Supreme Court justices, resulting in a conservative majority of five out of nine justices on the court.
