Save Money by Knowing This... Highway Toll Exemptions and Free Museum Admission

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Highway tolls will be waived again this Lunar New Year. The toll exemption will be applied from 0:00 on the 24th to 24:00 on the 26th.


According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 24th, the highways exempt from tolls include most highways managed by the Korea Expressway Corporation, such as financial expressways and 18 private expressways including Incheon Airport Expressway.


In addition, various events and free benefits will be provided to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The Korea Grand Sale event will be held until the 28th of next month for tourists visiting Korea and domestic consumers. Over 830 companies in transportation, accommodation, food, and tourism sectors will participate, offering discounts of up to 85%.


Passengers traveling from local areas to the metropolitan area from the 23rd to the 24th, or from the metropolitan area to local areas from the 26th to the 27th, will receive ticket discounts ranging from 30% to 50%. When purchasing Seoul-local route bus tickets, a '1+1' discount benefit is provided.


During the Lunar New Year holiday from the 2nd to the 6th of next month, four major palaces?Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung?as well as Jongmyo Shrine and Joseon Royal Tombs will be open free of charge.


Special performances and experiential events will be held at 14 national museums, including the National Folk Museum. Admission fees to the National Science Museum and four other national science museums' permanent exhibitions will be discounted by 50%. The National Marine Biodiversity Institute will also operate free of charge.
