[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] Korea Citibank announced on the 23rd that it has signed a sponsorship agreement with JA Korea, an international non-profit youth education organization, to strengthen employment capabilities programs for specialized high schools.
According to Citibank, at the sponsorship agreement ceremony held yesterday afternoon at the Citibank headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, Citibank delivered approximately 350 million KRW in sponsorship funds from the Citi Foundation to JA Korea.
Citibank and the Citi Foundation operate this program together with JA Korea to enhance the employment capabilities of specialized high school students preparing for employment and to support their successful entry into society. Since the program started in 2015, about 3,600 students from 86 high schools located in 14 regions nationwide have participated, and over 2,100 of the participating students have succeeded in finding employment.
The program provides opportunities for employment preparation such as special lectures on employment, meetings with mentors working in various companies, job and career exploration, resume review, and practical mock interviews. This year, the scope of support will be expanded to include new ICT career and employment education for people with disabilities.
Park Jin-hoe, President of Citibank, stated, “We will continue to take an interest and provide support so that the youth who will lead our society can successfully start their social lives in various fields.”
