[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Market Kurly, a grocery shopping app, revealed that 'health functional foods' were the best-selling items in their Lunar New Year gift set event held from December 26 last year.
Market Kurly announced on the 23rd that, after investigating the sales status of Lunar New Year gift sets over about a month from December 26 last year to January 22, all of the top nine best-selling products were health functional foods.
The best-selling product was Kim Jeonghwan Hongsam’s ‘Energy Time Stick with Hongsam,’ which sold over 10,000 units and is currently sold out. The products ranked 2nd to 4th in sales were related to eye health. Products ranked 5th to 9th were also health foods such as Baedojari syrup, cultivated wild ginseng root, and probiotics, with only the 10th ranked product being fruit.
Among the top 10 best-selling reserved delivery gift sets, where the product arrival date is specified, 8 were fresh meat products for which freshness is important. The top four reserved delivery sales were all Korean beef products.
A Market Kurly official stated, “Health functional foods such as red ginseng and supplements have consistently been popular during previous holidays, but this is the first time they have overwhelmingly occupied the top sales rankings, surpassing other gift sets like fruit, meat, and seafood products as they did this year,” adding, “This seems to reflect the growing social awareness of the importance of health every year.”
