Guro-gu, Innovation Education District Project Contest Announcement

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is announcing a call for proposals for the Innovative Education District project.

On the 23rd, Guro-gu announced that it will conduct a call for proposals for the Innovative Education District project to activate an educational community linked with the local society and to discover and support various village education contents.

The Innovative Education District project is a program that creates new educational opportunities through the utilization of local human and material educational resources and the establishment of networks. Guro-gu will support a total of 224 million KRW this year.

The call for proposals covers 11 projects including ▲children and youth self-directed projects ▲operation of youth volunteer groups ▲safety experience education for 1st and 2nd grade elementary students ▲support for learning community meetings ▲youth entrepreneurship and social economy activities ▲formation of school-village linked governance, among others.

Each project will receive support funds ranging from a minimum of 1 million KRW to a maximum of 50 million KRW.

Detailed information on eligibility, project content, and support criteria can be found on the Guro Innovative Education website (http://edu.guro.go.kr/inno).

Individuals, groups, or institutions wishing to participate in the call for proposals should prepare the application documents and visit the Education Support Division of the district office by 6 p.m. on the 29th. Submission by registered mail is also possible and will be valid if it arrives by the deadline.

Guro-gu plans to select support recipients through a first round of internal review committee and a second round of local subsidy review committee. The results will be announced in March.

Designated as the first Seoul-type Innovative Education District among autonomous districts in 2012, Guro-gu has carried out various projects for public education innovation such as improving the educational environment, operating the On Village Education Support Center, hosting youth festivals, conducting parent training, and running the On Village Education University.

A Guro-gu official stated, “We hope for much interest and participation in this call for proposals, which can create fresh learning opportunities through cooperation and communication among various educational stakeholders.”
