ASF Detected in 7 Wild Boars in Paju, Gyeonggi... Total Cases Reach 95 [Image source=Yonhap News]

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment announced on the 22nd that the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus was detected in seven wild boar carcasses found in Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province.


All seven confirmed carcasses were found inside the second fence within the Civilian Control Line (CCL). The number of ASF detections in wild boars has thus increased to 95 cases, with 38 cases reported in Paju.


Jung Won-hwa, head of the Biosafety Research Team at the National Institute of Environmental Research, stated, "We will strengthen the search together with the military to check if there are additional infected animals near the discovery site."
