[Tomorrow's Weather] Rain Across Most of the Country Before Seollal Holiday... Snow in Some Areas

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] On the 23rd, the day before the Lunar New Year holiday, rain is expected to fall in most parts of the country and gradually stop from midday.

In Seoul, northern Gyeonggi, and northern Yeongseo region of Gangwon, scattered raindrops or snowflakes will fall at dawn. Rain or snow is expected in southern Gyeonggi, southern Gangwon, and the northeastern mountainous areas of North Gyeongsang in the morning.

Expected precipitation amounts are 20?60 mm in Jeju-do, 10?40 mm along the southern coast, 5?20 mm in Jeolla-do, South Gyeongsang, and southern North Gyeongsang, and around 5 mm in Chungcheong-do, southern Gyeonggi, southern Gangwon, and northern North Gyeongsang. Less than 1 cm of snow is expected to accumulate in the southern mountainous areas of Gangwon.

The morning low temperature is forecast to be between -3 and 10 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high temperature between 9 and 13 degrees Celsius.

Fine dust levels are expected to be 'bad' in Sejong, North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, and Daegu, while other regions will have 'good' or 'normal' levels.

The Korea Meteorological Administration urged, "Since heavy rain is expected in Jeju-do and the southern coast, please be especially cautious of safety accidents." Thunderstorms and lightning are also forecast in Jeju-do along with gusty winds.

Strong winds and very high waves are expected in the southern sea. Thunderstorms and lightning are also forecast with gusts, so vessels engaged in navigation or fishing should exercise special caution. Sea wave heights are forecast to be 0.5?2.5 m in the East Sea coastal waters, 0.5?1.5 m in the West Sea coastal waters, and 0.5?2.0 m in the South Sea coastal waters. Offshore wave heights will be 1.0?2.5 m in the East and South Seas, and 1.0?2.0 m in the West Sea.
