[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Korea Council for University Education (KCUE) held its 2020 regular general meeting on the 22nd at The-K Hotel in Seoul and elected Kim In-cheol, president of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, as the 25th chairman. His term will begin on April 8 and last for two years.
KCUE is a council composed of 200 presidents of four-year universities, including 41 national and public universities, 153 private universities, and 6 universities established under special laws. The presidents of the Korea Private University Presidents Council and the National Council of Presidents of National and Public Universities participate as directors, and the KCUE chairman serves as the chairperson of the board of directors.
Its main tasks include establishing and operating university admission plans, researching student selection systems, formulating and proposing financial support measures for universities, researching and developing university curricula and teaching methods, conducting various evaluations such as university institutional accreditation, training university faculty and staff, and carrying out projects entrusted by the Minister of Education.
