Hwasun-gun Recruits Candidates for 'Early Diesel Vehicle Retirement and LPG Freight Vehicle Purchase' Program

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 22nd that it will recruit candidates for the early scrapping support project for old diesel vehicles and the new LPG cargo truck purchase support project from the 28th of this month to the 7th of next month.

This project is promoted to reduce air pollutants such as fine dust and nitrogen compounds caused by exhaust gases from old diesel vehicles.

The vehicles eligible for early scrapping support are diesel vehicles with emission grade 5 and three types of road construction machinery manufactured before 2005 under the emission standards: dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, and concrete pump trucks.

Application eligibility includes ▲ continuous registration in the county for more than 6 months ▲ ownership by the final owner for more than 6 months ▲ normal operation judgment in the performance inspection results ▲ no arrears in local taxes or environmental improvement charges.

There must also be no record of attaching emission reduction devices or converting to low-emission engines through government support.

The LPG cargo truck new purchase support project is for vehicle owners or institutions who scrap diesel vehicles and purchase a new LPG 1-ton cargo truck.

Applicants must own a diesel vehicle registered in the county as of the application date, and vehicles that have already undergone low-emission measures must have passed the mandatory compliance period.

Whether a vehicle is a diesel vehicle with emission grade 5 can be checked on the Ministry of Environment’s vehicle emission grade inquiry service website.

Applications must be submitted in person at the county office’s Environment Division from the 28th of this month to the 7th of next month.

Selection of early scrapping subsidy recipients will be made within the budget based on priority, including diesel vehicles with emission grade 5 that are currently exempt from fines due to emergency reduction measures, vehicles with a total weight of 3.5 tons or more, LPG cargo truck new purchase support vehicles, and older vehicles.

The LPG cargo truck new purchase support will select a total of 50 vehicles based on priority, including old diesel vehicles eligible for early scrapping support and general diesel vehicles.
