Shopping at Traditional Market with Over 300 Public Officials from Boseong-gun 'Bustling Bustling'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong County, took part in a traditional market shopping event on the 22nd ahead of the Lunar New Year to revitalize traditional markets and increase sales, which are the foundation of the local economy.
According to Boseong County on the 22nd, Governor Kim listened to and communicated with market merchants and local residents at the Nokchagol Boseong Local Market, purchasing Lunar New Year ritual items using the Boseong Love Gift Certificate, the local currency of Boseong.
About 300 public officials from Boseong County and related agency personnel participated in the event to support the revival of traditional markets.
Kim Cheol-woo, governor of Boseong County, said, “I hope this event will serve as an opportunity to breathe new life into traditional markets, and I urge everyone to visit traditional markets frequently to revitalize the local economy.”
Boseong County plans to continue the traditional market shopping event by visiting Beolgyo Market on the 23rd, starting with the Nokchagol Boseong Local Market. Additionally, beginning with the Lunar New Year shopping event, the county plans to encourage voluntary participation from local institutions and social organizations in traditional market shopping using the Boseong Love Gift Certificate.
Meanwhile, the Boseong Love Gift Certificate, first issued in 2009 to protect traditional market merchants and small business owners and to revitalize the local economy, has contributed to the local economy with cumulative sales approaching approximately 4.3 billion won as of early January this year.
