Daegu Bank, Smooth Progress in Building Smart Office

Daegu Bank, Smooth Progress in Building Smart Office DGB Daegu Bank Headquarters Duplex Building, Suseong-gu, Daegu

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] DGB Daegu Bank announced on the 22nd that it has stably established desktop virtualization (VDI) in some IT departments as part of its smart office project.

With the goal of "absolute security and creating an environment where work can be done anytime and anywhere," Daegu Bank, which has been conducting a pilot smart office construction project since November last year, is implementing a flexible seating system through VDI that allows access to personal PCs from anywhere within the company. VDI is a technology that enables remote access to virtual desktops created on a central server without a physical PC, characterized by enhanced security as data is stored in a central data center to prevent data leakage.

The VDI policy is currently in use in four IT headquarters departments, including the IM Bank Strategy Department located in the newly built Daegu Suseong-gu headquarters duplex since December last year. While previously work was only possible on designated personal PCs at fixed seats, the smart office construction through VDI adoption now allows employees to handle tasks anywhere within the dispersed headquarters departments (Suseong-dong headquarters, Buk-gu 2nd headquarters, DGB Innovation Center, Seoul Development Office, etc.) such as offices and meeting rooms using the DGB Smart Office.

A Daegu Bank official stated, "We will identify areas for improvement through operational performance analysis and benchmarking external cases, including expanding to headquarters units working on the same floor." He added, "Based on this, we are considering promoting smart departments throughout the entire building and will efficiently utilize digital technology to create a flexible working environment in accordance with the 52-hour workweek system."
