[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] During this year's Lunar New Year holiday period (24th to 27th), most areas in Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to experience warmer temperatures than usual, with some places forecasted to receive heavy rain.

According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 22nd, warm air will flow in from the south during the holiday period, causing temperatures to be about 3 to 7℃ higher than the average (lowest temperature -5 to 1℃, highest temperature 4 to 7℃).

Heavy rain is also expected in some regions.

On the 24th, when the homecoming begins, and on the Lunar New Year day (25th), clouds will mainly increase along the edges of a high-pressure system.

From the afternoon of the 26th, when the return journey starts, until the 27th, it will be cloudy with rain due to a low-pressure system passing over the South Sea.

In particular, from the afternoon of the 26th to the 27th, the rainfall duration will be long, and heavy rain exceeding 80mm is expected mainly along the southern coast near the low-pressure system's path.

Additionally, from the 26th to the 28th, the pressure difference between the low-pressure system moving northward from the south and the high-pressure system remaining in the north will increase, causing very strong winds of 35 to 60 km/h (10 to 16 m/s) mainly along the coast, with somewhat strong winds expected inland as well, according to the Meteorological Administration.

However, the rain expected on the 26th and 27th may vary significantly in terms of concentrated areas, duration, and amount depending on changes in the intensity and path of the low-pressure system.

Sea waves will be 1 to 2.5 meters mainly in the southern West Sea and southwestern South Sea from the 24th to the 25th. The southwestern South Sea waves will gradually rise to 2 to 3 meters from the afternoon of the 25th, with a possibility of a storm warning being issued.

From the 26th to the 27th, waves will be very high, reaching 2 to 3 meters (up to 4 meters) mainly in the southwestern South Sea, and 1 to 2.5 meters in the southern southern offshore area of the West Sea.

A Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration official said, "Visibility will be low during the rainfall period, and roads may be slippery due to rain freezing overnight mainly inland, so please pay special attention to traffic safety," and added, "Homecoming and return travelers using passenger ships should refer to the latest weather special reports."
