Dongshin University Successfully Completes 'Winter Vacation Foreign Language Camp for Elementary and Middle School Students'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dongshin University announced on the 22nd that the ‘2019 Winter Vacation Elementary and Middle School Students Foreign Language (English and Chinese) Camp’ conducted by the International Education Center was successfully completed.

The camp, held in cooperation with Naju City from the 6th to the 18th, had 176 participants including 83 elementary students and 26 middle school students in English, and 67 elementary students in Chinese.

English classes focused on ‘Problem-Solving Skills Using Game Theory,’ while Chinese classes were themed ‘Latest Chinese Trends,’ including foreign language lessons as well as physical education and cultural activities.

At the completion ceremony held on the 18th, among the English camp participants, Kim Wonkyung, a 6th grader at Bitnuri Elementary School, Kim Narin, a 5th grader at Bitgaram Elementary School, and Chae Ilhan, a 1st grader at Geumcheon Middle School, were selected as outstanding students and each received the Naju Mayor’s Award.

In the Chinese camp, Do Gyuah, a 6th grader at Bitgaram Elementary School, was selected as an outstanding student and received the Naju Mayor’s Award.

These four awardees will be given the special opportunity to participate in overseas language training programs in the United States, China, and other countries during this summer vacation.

Oh Seongrok, Director of Dongshin University International Education Center, said, “We will continue to conduct foreign language camps such as English and Chinese to help elementary and middle school students in the Naju area become global talents.”
