[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 22nd that it will operate comprehensive situation rooms in six areas?general situation, traffic, medical & ancestral rites, safety & firefighting, environment & cleaning, and water supply?from the 24th to the 27th to ensure that returning visitors and citizens can spend a comfortable and safe Lunar New Year holiday.
First, to provide transportation convenience for returning visitors and those visiting ancestral graves, the Lunar New Year holiday period has been designated as a special traffic control period. The number of '518' city buses running from Gwangju Intercity Bus Terminal to the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery will be increased from 60 to 88 trips per day, and the 'Jiwon 15' and 'Yongjeon 86' city bus routes will be adjusted to operate to Yeongnak Park.
In cooperation with related organizations such as the Gwangju Police Agency and Korea Expressway Corporation, real-time traffic information will be provided, and national road detour signs will be installed at major interchanges expected to experience congestion to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
To manage disaster safety and prevent fires, a 24-hour disaster situation management system will be maintained, and ambulances will be deployed on-site in densely populated areas such as those with returning visitors to prepare for emergencies.
To prepare for food poisoning and other infectious diseases, a response system has been established with autonomous districts and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Twenty-five emergency medical institutions, including Chonnam National University Hospital, as well as on-duty medical institutions and pharmacies, will operate to minimize medical service gaps caused by holiday closures.
To ensure a clean environment during the holiday, 532 street environment cleaners and 1,238 household environment cleaners will work special shifts, and 18 mobile teams with 50 members will operate to crack down on and handle illegal garbage dumping.
○ Additionally, wildfire prevention measures, emergency duty for livestock infectious diseases, environmental pollution monitoring, and mobile water supply complaint handling teams will be operated to thoroughly resolve citizen inconveniences.
Traffic information during the holiday can be checked on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport website, the National Traffic Information Center, and ARS 1333. Emergency medical facility status can be checked in real time on the Emergency Medical Portal, and other inconveniences can be inquired about through the Gwangju 120 Call Center and the duty office for guidance.
Jung Min-gon, Director of the Citizen Safety Office of the city, said, “We will do our best to ensure citizen safety and handle civil complaints so that returning visitors and citizens can spend a joyful holiday with their families without inconvenience.”
