SK Telecom announced on the 22nd that ahead of this year's Lunar New Year, it will launch the 'T map Holiday Clinic Guide' service to provide convenient and safe driving for customers traveling to and from their hometowns.
The holiday clinic service allows users to search for keywords such as 'holiday hospital' or 'Lunar New Year hospital' on T map, which then shows clinics near their current location that are open during the holiday period. Users can search for clinics operating during the Lunar New Year holiday from the 24th to the 27th through T map.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, during last year's Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, emergency medical center visits averaged 26,000 per day, which was 2.2 times higher than on weekdays and 1.6 times higher than on weekends under normal circumstances.
An SK Telecom official explained, "This service will receive a lot of positive feedback from people who suddenly fall ill or feel unwell during the holidays and need to find a hospital," adding, "Since operating hours and dates vary by clinic during the holiday period, users who want treatment should check with the clinic's main phone number provided after searching on T map to confirm availability before visiting."
For safe travel to and from hometowns, services using V2X technology such as ▲ sudden braking alerts ▲ emergency vehicle alerts are also provided. T map's 'Sudden Braking Alert' uses V2X technology to detect when a T map user vehicle ahead brakes suddenly, judging there is a risk of an accident, and simultaneously displays warning messages on the T map screens of vehicles following within 1 km. Drivers behind can reduce speed gradually according to the T map warning, even if the front situation is not visible, preventing collisions.
Additionally, SK Telecom supports 'Emergency Vehicle Alerts' on highways where accidents frequently occur due to traffic congestion during holiday travel. When an accident occurs and emergency vehicles such as fire trucks or ambulances are dispatched, this service notifies vehicles traveling on the dispatch route.
Furthermore, customers can easily check information on over 14,000 public parking lots nationwide that are open for free during the Lunar New Year holiday through the 'T map Parking' application. The 'T map Parking' app is available for download on the Play Store and App Store. When searching for a destination, free public parking lots near the destination are displayed on the app screen. Free parking information is provided from the day before the Lunar New Year holiday, the 23rd, through the 27th.
Lee Jong-ho, Head of SK Telecom's Mobility Business Unit, stated, “SK Telecom has guided accurate and fast routes based on 18 years of T map service experience and traffic information used by 12.5 million monthly users,” adding, “As we welcome the first Lunar New Year holiday since the commercialization of 5G last year, we will strengthen services to enhance customer convenience, help users drive safely, and strive further to realize social value.”
