Max Weinbach Reveals Galaxy S20 Series Prices in Europe
"Galaxy Z Flip at 1400 Euros, Subject to Change"
Galaxy S20 Ultra Priced at 1300 Euros... More Expensive Than Previous Model
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] It is expected that the price difference between the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy S20 Ultra will be around 100,000 KRW.
On the 21st (local time), Max Weinbach of XDA Developers revealed on Twitter the prices of the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy S20 series, which will be unveiled at the Unpacked event in three weeks. The Galaxy Z Flip is expected to be priced at 1,400 euros (approximately 1.81 million KRW), which is forecasted to be 100 euros more expensive than the Galaxy S20 Ultra model (1,300 euros, about 1.68 million KRW).
Weinbach stated that based on the 5G models, the Galaxy S20 will be priced between 900 and 1,000 euros (approximately 1.16 to 1.29 million KRW), the S20 Plus between 1,050 and 1,100 euros (about 1.36 to 1.42 million KRW), and the S20 Ultra at 1,300 euros. He explained, "The price of the Galaxy Z Flip, expected to be 1,400 euros, may change before its release."
Considering previous estimates that the Galaxy Z Flip's price ranged from $862 to $1,293, it is expected to launch at a price lower than 1,400 euros. Industry experts generally predict it will be released in the mid-to-high 1 million KRW range. Assuming 1,400 euros, it would be at least 500,000 KRW cheaper than the Galaxy Fold. The Galaxy Z Flip's specifications, such as the Snapdragon 855 and dual cameras, are slightly lower than those of the Galaxy Fold.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra, equipped with a 100-megapixel camera, is known to be released only as a 5G model. Compared to the S10+, it is about 300 euros more expensive, likely due to significant improvements in camera performance. The Galaxy S20 and S20+ will have separate LTE models, expected to be priced about 100 euros cheaper than the 5G models.
The European prices of the Galaxy S20 series revealed this time include local taxes, so there may be differences when converted to KRW or USD compared to domestic retail prices. Also, since these prices are not finalized, they may change until just before the official release.
Based on major foreign media and industry reports, the likely release date for the Galaxy S20 series is March 13. It is expected that the Galaxy Z Flip will be released first immediately after the Unpacked event on February 11 (local time), followed by the start of Galaxy S20 pre-orders about a month later.
Nine to Five Google explained, "Prices may change until just before the public event, but it gives the impression that it is more expensive than expected," adding, "The nearly one-month gap between announcement and release differs from Samsung Electronics' usual release pattern."
