Employees of the Gwangju Immigration Office conducted guidance activities targeting foreign job seekers at the construction labor market in the early morning of the 21st.

This activity was promoted to prevent illegal foreign residents from encroaching on jobs for our common citizens.
In particular, the inspections focused on the early morning construction labor market, which is used by many nationals from visa-exempt countries such as Russia and Kazakhstan. The office explained relevant immigration regulations and systems to foreign job seekers and employers in the construction industry and informed them about the disadvantages of violations.
The Gwangju Immigration and Foreigners Office plans to continue paying close attention to prevent illegal employment activities by foreigners and the acts of employing and mediating such activities.
A representative of the Gwangju Immigration and Foreigners Office stated, “We hope that the ‘Voluntary Departure System for Illegal Foreign Residents (implemented on December 11, 2019),’ which exempts penalties and entry bans if illegal foreign residents voluntarily depart by June 30, and grants visa issuance opportunities again after a certain period following departure, will be widely utilized.”
