[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The Korea Federation of Savings Banks sponsored goods and conducted meal-serving volunteer activities at Ahyeon Senior Welfare Center in Mapo-gu, Seoul, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

According to the Korea Federation of Savings Banks on the 21st, the meal-serving volunteer event was attended by executives and employees including Executive Director Ha Eun-su of the Federation and Kim Jong-o, head of Gongdeok-dong. They served tteokguk (rice cake soup) to local seniors.

Executive Director Ha said, "To celebrate the Lunar New Year, we volunteered together with employees to serve a warm bowl of tteokguk to the elderly," adding, "As a financial institution for the common people, the Federation and savings banks will continue to work together to extend helping hands to local residents and neighbors in need."

The Federation shares warm compassion with marginalized neighbors in the community every year. In July last year, it donated about 8 tons of onions together with the savings bank industry. In December of the same year, it formed partnerships with the Mapo Senior Welfare Center and the Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled in Seoul to provide meal-serving and lunchbox delivery volunteer services for local seniors with mobility difficulties. It also donated funds to wildfire victims in Gangwon Province and provided scholarships to sister schools under the One Company-One School program.
