Naju-si, Switches to Local Government Filing for Personal Local Income Tax Starting This Year

Naju-si, Switches to Local Government Filing for Personal Local Income Tax Starting This Year

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyuk] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 21st that it will strengthen publicity for the system to minimize taxpayer inconvenience as the personal local income tax (comprehensive, retirement, and capital gains income) reporting is switched to local government reporting starting this year.

The city explained that instead of the previous method of simultaneously reporting income tax and personal local income tax to the tax office, income tax must be reported to the tax office and personal local income tax must be reported and paid separately to the local government.

Additionally, when using the internet first, a convenient electronic reporting system has been established where after completing the income tax report on Hometax, you can connect to Wetax with one click to report local income tax.

When visiting the tax office, after reporting national income tax, personal local income tax can be submitted by placing it in the reporting and reception box available at the tax office.

In particular, during the comprehensive income tax final reporting period in May, a reporting center will be set up at the city hall so that reporters can visit either the tax office or city hall and report both comprehensive income tax and personal local income tax at once.

For mail submissions, the postmark date is considered the reporting date, and income tax should be sent to the tax office while personal local income tax should be sent to the local government by filling out the respective forms.

A city official said, “We will strengthen publicity to ensure the changed system of personal local income tax is implemented stably and minimize taxpayer inconvenience and confusion.”
