The First Domestic 'Wuhan Pneumonia' Confirmed Patient's Condition is Stable [Image source=Yonhap News]


[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The condition of the first confirmed domestic patient with 'Wuhan pneumonia' has been reported as stable.


According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the 21st, the confirmed patient with the novel coronavirus infection undergoing isolated treatment is currently in a stable condition without pneumonia symptoms.


The total number of contacts is 44. Specifically, 29 passengers who were on the same flight as the confirmed patient, 5 crew members, and 10 airport officials.


Domestic health authorities are monitoring 35 people, excluding 9 who have left the country. A KCDC official said, "For the contacts, in-depth epidemiological investigations have been completed and active monitoring is being conducted," adding, "There have been no notable issues so far."


There are no unusual findings among the 5 companions of the confirmed patient either. Among them, 3 departed for Japan the previous day, and 2 are scheduled to depart for China this afternoon.


As of 9 a.m. today, the total number of symptomatic individuals under investigation is 11. Except for 1 confirmed patient, 7 have tested negative, and 3 are undergoing testing.


The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention emphasized, "Cooperation from the public and medical community is of utmost importance for early detection and containment of the novel coronavirus infection."
