Gwangju Immigration Office Conducts Labor Market Inspection Activities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Immigration Office (Director Kim Jin-young) announced on the 21st that it conducted inspections and guidance activities to prevent illegal employment, hiring, and mediation at the early morning labor market in Wolgok-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, an area densely populated by foreigners.

This activity was promoted to prevent illegal foreign residents from encroaching on jobs for our common people.

In particular, the inspection focused on the early morning construction labor market, which is mainly used by many nationals from visa-exempt countries such as Russia and Kazakhstan.

At the site, immigration regulations and systems were explained to foreign job seekers and employers in the construction industry, and they were informed about the disadvantages of violations.

A representative of the Gwangju Immigration Office said, “We plan to continuously pay attention to prevent illegal employment activities by foreigners and the acts of employing and mediating such activities. We hope that the ‘Voluntary Departure System for Illegal Foreign Residents,’ which exempts penalties and entry bans if illegal foreign residents voluntarily depart by June 30 and provides opportunities to reissue visas after a certain period following departure, will be widely utilized.”
