[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The yellow 'Green Circulation Bus,' which is cheaper than city buses and travels to major urban points and tourist attractions in Seoul, will begin its first operation.

Seoul City announced on the 21st that the Green Circulation Bus will start its first operation at 10 a.m. on the 29th.

A total of 27 buses will be deployed daily, operating from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The fare is 600 won, half the price of the existing city bus fare.

There are four routes in total: Outer City Circulation (Route 01), Namsan Circulation (Route 02), Inner City Circulation (Route 03), and Namsan Connection (Route 04). Each route covers major tourist spots such as Myeongdong, Namsan Tower, Seoul Station, Dongdaemun, Insadong, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Sajik Park, and Dongnimmun.

If passengers board the Green Circulation Bus with the same route number again within 30 minutes, they can ride without an additional fare. Transfer benefits with existing public transportation such as subways and city buses are also maintained.

The buses currently introduced are compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, but Seoul City plans to replace them with 100% low-floor electric vehicles by May this year.
