Pre-orders start in Indonesia from the 20th... Galaxy Buds included
Screen larger than Galaxy A51, priced 100,000 KRW higher at around 500,000 KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics is targeting Indonesia first with its mid-range smartphone 'Galaxy A71'. This product, which sparked curiosity last month when only information was released in Vietnam, has started pre-orders first in Indonesia ahead of its official launch next month.
According to IT specialized media SamMobile on the 19th (local time), Samsung Electronics will start pre-orders for the 'Galaxy A71' in Indonesia from the 20th for one week. The Galaxy A71 will be released first in Indonesia and is expected to be launched soon in India as well. It is highly likely that a 5G model will be released in Korea, the United States, and other countries as early as the second quarter.
The Galaxy A71 is one of the mid-range product lineups that were unveiled last month in Vietnam along with the 'Galaxy A51'. However, at that event, the product was not exhibited and only information was disclosed, leading to many expectations that it would be released in the first half of the year. The Galaxy A71 has a larger display and slightly higher camera specifications than the Galaxy A51. The price is also about $450 (approximately 520,000 KRW), which is about 100,000 KRW more expensive than the Galaxy A51 (410,000 KRW). Samsung Electronics is offering 'Galaxy Buds' together for those who pre-order.
The Indonesian smartphone market is a region where Samsung Electronics is fiercely competing with Chinese manufacturers. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, as of the third quarter of last year, Samsung Electronics held a 22% market share, followed by Xiaomi at 20%, Oppo at 19%, Vivo at 13%, Realme at 11%, and others at 15%. Indonesia accounts for about half of the Southeast Asian population and, along with Vietnam, is one of the Southeast Asian markets that Samsung Electronics must not miss.
The Galaxy A71 features a 6.7-inch display, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor, with 128GB of storage. Like the Galaxy A51, it is equipped with four cameras: a 64-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 5-megapixel depth camera, and a macro camera.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics plans to release the Galaxy A71 as a 5G model, with Korea, the United States, and China expected to be the first markets.
