Monday Relatively Mild... Fine Dust Levels 'Bad' [Image source=Yonhap News]

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Monday the 20th marks Daehan, the solar term indicating the arrival of severe cold, but temperatures are expected to be relatively mild, higher than average.

Morning low temperatures will range from -7°C to 3°C, and daytime highs will range from 2°C to 10°C, about 1 to 3 degrees warmer than usual.

However, inland areas will experience a temperature difference of about 9 to 13 degrees between day and night, making mornings and evenings somewhat chilly.

The sky will be mostly cloudy nationwide but is expected to clear up from the afternoon.

In the southern Gyeonggi region, Yeongseo area of Gangwon, northern Chungbuk, inland eastern Jeonbuk, and inland western Gyeongsang, there may be snow flurries or raindrops early in the morning.

Fine dust levels are expected to be 'bad' in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Yeongseo, Honam, Yeongnam, and Jeju areas. Other regions are expected to have 'normal' levels.

The National Institute of Environmental Research forecasted that due to stagnant air, fine dust accumulated from the previous day will remain dense in most areas until the morning, and in some central-western regions, foreign fine dust inflow will cause fine dust to remain somewhat dense into the evening.
