[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Han Gyudong, CEO of HAN Cultural Contents Research Institute, opened a cultural contents research institute in Jeungsan-dong, Eunpyeong-gu on the 18th after concluding 40 years of public service.
CEO Han Gyudong is known as a poet-dongjang who has carried out public service and artistic activities. While in office, he gained much attention by implementing cultural welfare administration for residents with fresh ideas.
The policies he implemented while serving as dongjang were expanded to 16 dongs in Eunpyeong-gu and are still being continuously carried out.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Liberation Day, he held cultural events for the descendants of independence activists in the village and promoted traditional culture to revitalize the village economy through cultural festival planning.
In particular, he carried out various administrative projects such as the ‘Neighbor Helping Domino Project’ and the installation and operation of the ‘Love Grain Storage’ to assist marginalized groups.
CEO Han has continuously worked as a poet and calligrapher. Recently, he published a poetry collection titled “It Is Beautiful When It Shakes” and served as the president of the Korea Poets and Writers Association. As a calligrapher, he participated in several performances and exhibitions at the 2018 Winter Olympics, currently serves as a director of the Korea Calligraphy Design Association and the Korea Fine Arts Association, was the chief judge in the calligraphy category at the 38th Korea Art Exhibition, and was appointed as a judge for the 2019 Chusa Kim Jeonghee Calligraphy Competition.
With such diverse experience, CEO Han is expected to open new cultural and artistic avenues for villages and local governments by moving into the field of cultural contents research, developing cultural and artistic contents suitable for the AI era, planning village community operations through business agreements with local governments, and organizing village cultural festivals.
In particular, a special lecture to revitalize residents’ autonomy councils is scheduled for February 10 to 11, lasting one night and two days. About 60 officials, including dongjangs from 14 dongs in Seodaemun-gu, will participate to assist in preparing residents’ autonomy councils.
