"Unrelated to the Causes of Consecutive Accidents"

On the 17th (local time), foreign media reported that Boeing discovered a problem in the software of the 737 Max model and is conducting an update to resolve it.
US ABC News and others reported that the newly discovered defect appeared in the function that monitors software operation during the aircraft computer booting phase. However, the defect found this time is known to be unrelated to the autopilot software defect that caused previous accidents.
Boeing stated, "We are performing the necessary update work and are in consultation with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to obtain approval for the program changes."
In October 2018, a 737 Max aircraft belonging to Indonesia's Lion Air crashed, followed by another crash in March 2019 involving a 737 Max aircraft from Ethiopian Airlines, resulting in a total of 346 passengers and crew deaths. Consequently, aviation authorities worldwide suspended operations of the model.
Investigations revealed that the aircraft accidents were caused by defects in the autopilot software and the failure to train pilots on how to handle these defects.
Meanwhile, according to industry sources, the US aviation authorities are expected to approve the resumption of 737 Max operations within this year.
