[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Gwangjin District Council (Chairman Go Yang-seok) started the new year of the Year of the Rat by delivering the 2020 Red Cross special membership fees to the Gwangjin District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association on the 17th, encouraging the efforts of those involved and practicing sharing.

The delivery ceremony held on this day, aimed at actively participating in the payment of Red Cross membership fees, raising interest in the Korean Red Cross's fundraising campaign, and spreading a culture of sharing in the new year, was attended by a total of eight executives including Chairman Go Yang-seok, Vice Chairman Jeon Eun-hye, Operating Committee Chair Park Soon-bok, the President of the Gwangjin District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association, and the head of the Northern Volunteer Center of the Seoul Branch.

Chairman Go Yang-seok stated, "Although the welfare budget exceeds 50% of the total budget of Gwangjin District, there still seem to be welfare blind spots where help does not reach every corner of society," and added, "With the hope that the Red Cross will help vulnerable groups in the region, we have gathered small sincerity at the level of the Gwangjin District Council again this year following last year. I hope this Red Cross fee will be used precious for neighbors in need of warm hands."

He also said, "I hope that many residents will participate in the culture of sharing so that the atmosphere of warm hands and consideration for neighbors spreads throughout society."

The Gwangjin District Council has continuously taken the lead in practicing warm sharing for the underprivileged in the district during the year-end and New Year holidays, such as donating all the proceeds from the food booth sales at the direct transaction market with its sister city, Muju County Council, to the Seoul Metropolitan Branch of the Community Chest of Korea last December.

In the future, the Gwangjin District Council plans to continuously select institutions and individuals who need practical help and take care of the livelihood field through various volunteer activities that convey interest and love.
