Geumcheon-gu Implements Comprehensive Measures for Lunar New Year 2020

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) has established and is implementing the '2020 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Measures' to ensure that residents can have a comfortable and safe holiday during the Lunar New Year.

From the 20th to the 28th, the district will focus on six key areas: △Safety measures △Traffic measures △Culture of sharing △Resolving residents' inconveniences △Price stabilization △Establishment of public service discipline.

According to the main details, the district will deploy a total of 161 personnel including public officials to operate a 24-hour comprehensive situation room and eight functional task forces such as snow removal, cleaning, and others. Each staff member plans to respond quickly and accurately to emergencies or civil complaints during the Lunar New Year holiday to minimize inconvenience to residents.

In particular, to prepare for emergency patients, an emergency medical response system will be activated to maintain constant communication with hospitals, clinics, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and the city emergency medical situation room. Heemyeong Hospital in Siheung-dong is designated as an emergency medical institution, and holiday duty pharmacies will operate on a rotating basis.

Information on medical institutions and pharmacy working hours available during the holiday can be obtained through the 119 Ambulance Situation Management Center, 120 Dasan Call Center, 129 Welfare Call Center, the Emergency Medical Portal (www.e-gen.or.kr), and smartphone apps (providing emergency medical information).

Additionally, to prevent safety accidents during the holiday period, special pre-inspections will be conducted targeting multi-use facilities, construction sites, disaster-vulnerable facilities, and traditional markets. A 24-hour snow removal situation room will be operated in preparation for heavy snowfall.

Parking measures are also included. To allow residents to spend the holiday comfortably with their families without worrying about parking, a total of 2,137 parking spaces across 46 locations including schools, public parking lots, and private facilities will be opened.

Furthermore, road facility restoration teams and park management mobile teams will be operated to promptly restore and respond without disruption in case of accidents.

Due to the shortened operation of the metropolitan landfill site and the holidays of cleaning contractors, garbage will not be collected for two days on the 24th and 25th, when the Lunar New Year holiday begins. In response, the district will operate a cleaning task force and have sanitation workers work special shifts to clean alleys and main roads within the area during the holiday period in preparation for urgent civil complaints.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "We have prepared comprehensive Lunar New Year measures covering everything needed during the holiday, from daily civil complaints such as cleaning and parking, which cause the most inconvenience to residents, to emergency medical care. We will fully activate the emergency response system, so residents can rest assured and have a safe and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday."
