[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Actor Gong Hyung-jin clarified that he has had "no recent contact" after his name was mentioned in connection with actor Joo Jin-mo's phone hacking incident.
Gong Hyung-jin appeared in a phone interview on the YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Research Institute' (Gaseyeon) aired on the 14th.
In the broadcast, he addressed former reporter Kim Yong-ho's statement on the previous day's (13th) 'Gaseyeon' episode, where Kim revealed that Gong Hyung-jin and Jang Dong-gun were close through their activities with the baseball team 'Playboys.'
Gong Hyung-jin began by saying, "I am currently pursuing new projects in overseas business. I am living diligently." He added, "I am a big fan and subscriber of 'Gaseyeon' and watch it carefully. But while watching yesterday's (13th) episode, I almost jumped into the screen."
He expressed, "I am heartbroken because close juniors of mine are going through difficult times," and stated, "However, there are some misunderstandings that I want to clarify."
He explained, "It is true that we got along well while participating together in the baseball and golf teams. However, due to personal reasons, I left the baseball team in 2012 and stopped participating. Since then, we have had occasional contact, but we have been busy and have not met actively."
Following his explanation about his friendship with Joo Jin-mo and Jang Dong-gun, Gong Hyung-jin also addressed the rumors of business failure mentioned by former reporter Kim.
He stated, "It is completely untrue that we grew apart due to financial issues as Kim mentioned," and added, "I have never caused any major financial problems."
