Ajou University Clarifies, Criticizes "Such a Lie"

Amid controversy over a leaked recording in which the director of Ajou University Medical Center verbally abused Professor Lee Guk-jong, head of the Ajou University Hospital Gyeonggi Southern Regional Trauma Center, Professor Lee issued a statement on the 15th.

After returning from a naval cruise training overseas, Professor Lee expressed his mixed feelings in an interview with several broadcasters, saying, "I preferred being at sea and facing 10-meter waves."

When asked about his future plans, he replied, "I hope to hide somewhere and just take a ship ride like this time."

Professor Lee strongly criticized Ajou University, showing deep resentment.

In particular, regarding his claim that Ajou University deliberately ignored the shortage of beds in the regional trauma center, Ajou University explained externally that "the shortage of beds was temporary due to internal construction during that period." Professor Lee rebutted, saying, "What kind of nonsense lie is that?" and "They never provided beds."

He then showed signs of exhaustion, saying, "I tried my best to push through somehow, but now I can't anymore."

Earlier, on the 13th, while Professor Lee was participating in the naval cruise training, a recording was reported in which Medical Center Director Yoo Hee-seok verbally abused Professor Lee with phrases like "Quit it, you XX." Subsequently, conflicts between Professor Lee and Ajou University over the operation of the regional trauma center have come to light, sparking controversy.

An Ajou University official said, "We are considering organizing some data to clarify the facts of the claims made by Professor Lee and informing the public."
