[Photo] Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Briefs 2020 District Administration Plans at New Year's Meeting

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 14th at 4 p.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the ‘2020 Nowon-gu New Year Meeting’ held at Donghae Culture and Arts Center of Kwangwoon University, where he announced the operational plans for the district administration in the new year.

The New Year Meeting was organized to mark the Year of the Rat and to celebrate a vigorous leap forward for ‘Nowon, a Healing City in Nature and Culture!’ with participation from various sectors and residents.

Before the event, Mayor Oh Seung-rok warmly greeted residents attending the meeting by shaking hands with each of them.

The New Year Meeting was held successfully with about 2,000 attendees including members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, executives of professional organizations, and residents. The program proceeded with a pre-event performance followed by a presentation by Mayor Oh Seung-rok outlining his plans for the new year. The pre-event performances included a choir by the district women’s choir, a dance performance by the Honor Breakers, an LED Tron dance opening show, and New Year’s greetings from key figures.

Following this, Mayor Oh Seung-rok introduced the district’s operational direction for the year and over 80 major projects through his presentation. He explained the current strengths of Nowon and the immediate challenges to be addressed, focusing on district goals such as creating a new economic hub through the relocation of the Chang-dong vehicle depot and driver’s license test site, as well as the development of the Kwangwoon University station area.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu said, “Today was an occasion to present a future blueprint to create a new Nowon where today is happy and tomorrow is hopeful,” adding, “I will do my best this year to establish a foundation where residents can live a healing life.”
