Selection of 'Youth Advisors' for Dongjak-gu Innovation Education District

Youth Council to Support and Assist Youth Autonomous Activities Including Youth Subcommittees... Recruiting Young Adults Experienced in Innovative Education Projects from the 13th to Next Month 5th

Selection of 'Youth Advisors' for Dongjak-gu Innovation Education District Lee Chang-woo, Mayor of Dongjak District (left), is signing the 'Youth Policy Implementation Agreement' at the 1st Youth Autonomous Policy Market held on November 8 last year.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Chang-woo Lee) is selecting 12 youth assistants to revitalize youth self-governance activities.

The 'Youth Assistants' will support youth self-governance activities such as policy research assistance for the Youth Council, youth committees, and youth festivals as part of the Dongjak Innovation Education project.

Eligibility requires having participated in the Dongjak-gu Youth Council or youth committees and holding or expecting to hold a high school diploma.

The application period is from the 13th of this month to the 5th of next month. After document and interview evaluations assessing youth self-governance experience and willingness to participate, final selections will be made on February 11.

Selected youth assistants will be assigned to their desired fields within youth self-governance activities until December, working part-time less than 15 hours per week and receiving an hourly allowance of 10,000 KRW.

Those wishing to participate can download the application form from the district website, complete it, and submit the original documents in person to the Education Policy Division (☏820-9808).

Last year, the district selected six youth assistants for the first time in the Seoul-type Innovation Education District, supporting legislative workshops, regular meetings, and the operation of standing committees on culture, human rights, and safety.

In particular, through youth assistant activities, support was provided for policy discovery and research processes by youth council members, leading to the hosting of the Youth Self-Governance Policy Market in November and the incorporation of four policies, including anti-slip pavement on hillside paths, into the 2020 district administration.

Yoon So-yeon, head of the Education Policy Division, said, “Youth assistants will become mentors helping youth grow as democratic citizens and provide job experience opportunities for young people. With this year’s expanded recruitment, we hope to create an Innovation Education District environment where youth can take more initiative in their activities.”

This year, the district has allocated a total education budget of 3.524 billion KRW, a 19% increase from the previous year, to realize a happy Innovation Education City. It plans to continue projects for nurturing future talents, such as improving aging school environments, future creative classrooms, new sports, and creating youth creative innovation experience spaces tailored to each school.
