[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Data 3 Acts (Amendments to the Personal Information Protection Act, Credit Information Act, and Information and Communications Network Act) and the Pension 3 Acts (Amendments to the National Pension Act, Basic Pension Act, and Disabled Pension Act) passed the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 9th.
The Legislation and Judiciary Committee held a plenary session that morning and approved these bills.
The main point of the Data 3 Acts is to eliminate overlapping regulations caused by the division of personal information protection laws among different government departments. These bills have also been requested for prompt processing by both the government and the business community to foster related industries.
However, during the approval process, Representative Chae I-bae of the Bareunmirae Party opposed the amendment to the Personal Information Protection Act, arguing that it deviated from its original intent and needed supplementation, but the bill was ultimately processed and forwarded to the plenary session of the National Assembly.
The Pension 3 Acts mainly include raising the basic pension, increasing the payment amount for disabled pensions, and extending the period of the national pension premium support project for farmers and fishermen.
Yeo Sang-gyu, chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, said, "The bills processed today are only a small number of bills that ministers said were urgent, gathered and reviewed for processing," adding, "The remarks of Representative Chae I-bae, who opposed the Data 3 Acts, will be recorded, and if necessary, they can be amended later."
