[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Woongjin ThinkBig announced on the 9th that it will strengthen its product lineup of 'Woongjin Book Club Interactive Books' using augmented reality (AR) technology.
The newly released interactive book collections are two types: 'Woongjin Curiosity Encyclopedia Q' and 'Exploring Our Cities with Knowledge.' Woongjin Curiosity Encyclopedia Q consists of 50 books that fully satisfy a baby's intellectual curiosity. It contains over 500 topics and more than 2,000 essential core vocabularies for infants and elementary school children.
In particular, the types of questions children ask the most are classified into three types: term definition type, phenomenon understanding type, and curiosity resolution type. This encourages children to acquire knowledge from their perspective.
For example, in the space-themed books, terms and phenomena are easily explained with videos of solar system planets and 3D images to aid understanding. Using the interactive book-exclusive markers provided, children can indirectly experience realistic movements such as space probe launches and black holes.
'Exploring Our Cities with Knowledge' includes 25 domestic cities in each volume. It targets children from preschool to lower elementary grades. It helps children learn various knowledge useful for elementary school curriculum studies, such as history, figures, geography, and culture, by moving through actual travel courses.
Woongjin Book Club Interactive Books differ from traditional reading methods centered on text and images by providing a three-dimensional reading experience that stimulates auditory and tactile senses and enables interactive communication.
A Woongjin ThinkBig Woongjin Book Club official said, "Children's reading is not simply about reading many books but about inducing interest and creating a habit of reading books correctly," adding, "We will actively utilize edutech technology to develop reading methods like interactive books that allow children to easily approach books and gain diverse knowledge and experiences."
