[Asia Economy Reporters So-yeon Park, Ji-hee Kim] "We will innovatively shorten travel time to contribute to the realization of a dynamic, human-centered future city."

Jung Eui-sun, Executive Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, revealed the future mobility vision embodying a "human-centered future city" at Hyundai Motor's media event held in Las Vegas, USA, on the 6th (local time), a day before the opening of the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, 'CES 2020.' ▶Related article on page 2

He presented a new community model that drastically reduces travel time by breaking down boundaries between cities and creating new spaces. Vice Chairman Jung emphasized, "The evolution of mobility is about creating quality time to enrich people's lives," adding, "We dream of a future where our mobility solutions revitalize cities."

To realize this, Hyundai Motor proposed linking 'Urban Air Mobility (UAM) - Purpose Built Vehicle (PBV) - Mobility Transfer Hub.' UAM, including Personal Air Vehicles (PAV), connects the sky to the ground, while PBV connects people on the road. Once the development of PAV is completed, PBVs functioning as urban shuttles will be established, and hubs connecting UAM and PBV will be created to allow people to move freely.

Hyundai Motor Group is developing a PAV concept model in partnership with Uber. At the briefing, Hyundai unveiled the full-scale PAV concept model 'S-A1.' Vice Chairman Jung stated, "Working with globally recognized industry leaders is a crucial factor in achieving our goals," expressing positive views on the collaboration with Uber.

Samsung Electronics' vision for the future city also embodies a 'human-centered' philosophy. Kim Hyun-suk, President of Samsung Electronics' Consumer Electronics Division, defined the next decade as the 'Age of Experiences' in his keynote speech, stating, "In this era, spaces must be transformed and cities restructured according to diverse individual lifestyles," and added, "Samsung's human-centered innovation can make a significant contribution to solving these challenges."

At this CES, Samsung Electronics presents a vision of connected living expanding from personal to home to city (Me-Home-City). They also introduced robots equipped with AI optimized for human-centered and personalized lifestyles. President Kim emphasized, "The future Samsung envisions over the next decade is an experience-centered era," adding, "Customized technologies that meet individual needs will dominate, devices will understand users personally, and the boundaries between home, the physical world, and digital space will blur," highlighting that technology will change the way humans and cities communicate.
