[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Jang Seok-young, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited the comprehensive situation room for Windows 7 end-of-support response installed within the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) on the 3rd, emphasizing active response to cyber threats such as new malware infections and exposure to hacking risks.

The Ministry of Science and ICT established and is operating the comprehensive situation room for Windows 7 end-of-support response within KISA on the 2nd to quickly respond to cyber threats by disseminating threat situations following the end of Windows 7 support and developing customized dedicated vaccines when new malware appears.

Vice Minister Jang Seok-young stated, “We have conducted public awareness activities through various media about the risks of Windows 7 end-of-support and the necessity of OS replacement,” and urged, “Even after the end of technical support, please maintain close cooperation with related organizations to promptly respond to cybersecurity threats.”
