Gwangjin District Council Holds 2020 Opening Ceremony, Pledges Legislative Activities for Regional Development

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Gwangjin District Council (Chairman Go Yang-seok) held the 2020 opening ceremony on the morning of the 3rd in the council's main chamber, with council members and secretariat staff participating. They resolved to listen more closely to the voices of the district residents and to vigorously leap forward for regional development during the remaining term.

The opening ceremony, chaired by Park Soon-bok, Chairwoman of the Council Operations Committee, proceeded with Chairman Go Yang-seok’s New Year's address, followed by council members sharing their resolutions and well-wishes for the new year.

In his New Year's address, Chairman Go Yang-seok reflected on last year’s legislative activities, stating that during the first half of the 8th Gwangjin District Council, they aimed to be a dignified council trusted by the residents by strengthening communication with them, fostering a horizontal and cooperative relationship with the executive branch, and conducting substantive legislative activities based on fieldwork.

Furthermore, he promised that in the new year 2020, amid the era’s demand for local decentralization and for regional development, they would move forward more vigorously and listen attentively to each of the 350,000 residents’ voices to build a Gwangjin District filled with their will and determination.

Following Chairman Go Yang-seok’s New Year's address, a ceremony cutting the traditional steamed rice cake (sirutteok) and a toast proposed by Vice Chairman Jeon Eun-hye took place. After exchanging New Year's greetings, the council members pledged to carry out more proactive legislative activities with one heart for a more developed Gwangjin.
