[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Kim Hyun-seok, President of Samsung Electronics Consumer Electronics Division, predicted that a new "era of experience" will open over the next 10 years due to the advancement of digital technology. He also stated that Samsung will lead technological innovation that will change the world in this era of experience.
In a contribution posted on Samsung Electronics' website on the 3rd, President Kim emphasized, "Standing at the starting point of a new decade, the future Samsung envisions is the era of experience," adding, "In the era of experience, personalized technology that meets individual needs will take center stage."
He continued, "As the era of experience fully arrives, we will be connected to advanced technology in an optimized form for each individual," and added, "Instead of users learning how to use more complex and diverse functions, devices will operate autonomously for the users."
This article was posted as a kind of preview before President Kim's keynote speech at CES 2020, the world's largest consumer electronics technology exhibition, held in Las Vegas, USA, on the 7th.
Last year, President Kim announced plans to create an "era of personalized appliances" and stated, "All new products we release from now on will be part of Project Prism." Project Prism is a project that aims to satisfy a wide range of tastes through creation rather than manufacturing, customization rather than standardization, and extensive collaboration with other industries.
He asserted, "Based on Samsung's solid investments and proven leadership across artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G mobile communications, Samsung Electronics has secured a position to lead the era of experience," adding, "Most of Samsung Electronics' smart devices are connected through AI and IoT, and their proportion will continue to increase."
He especially emphasized, "This year has even more special meaning as it marks the first year of a new decade," and stated, "Samsung Electronics plans to participate in CES once again this year to lead technological innovation that will change the world."
He also highlighted the importance of the direction of technological development. President Kim explained, "What I want to emphasize in this CES keynote speech is our effort to ensure that such technological advancements work for the good," adding, "We always believe that we must take responsibility for the technologies we create, generate better experiences, and ultimately build a better world for everyone to live in."
He continued, "For Samsung Electronics, innovation means enabling humans to maximize their potential," and said, "To this end, we place great importance on open collaboration with global partners to develop new technologies for human progress." He also added, "I believe that these value standards will become even more important in the upcoming era of experience."
He concluded, "Ultimately, the goal of innovation is not innovation itself but to create a better world based on it," and stated, "Consumers, engineers, companies, and technology itself must all move forward together toward a better future."
