[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Kim Hyun-seok, CEO of Samsung Electronics (Head of the Consumer Electronics Division), predicted that a new "Era of Experience" will open over the next 10 years due to advancements in digital technology. He stated that Samsung will lead technological innovation that changes the world in this Era of Experience.
On the 3rd, through a company newsroom article, CEO Kim emphasized, "Standing at the starting point of a new decade, the future Samsung envisions is an experience-centered era, the 'Era of Experience'." This article was posted as a kind of teaser before Kim’s keynote speech at CES 2020, the world's largest consumer electronics technology exhibition, held in Las Vegas, USA, on the 7th.
He said that in the Era of Experience, personalized technology that meets individual needs will take center stage. CEO Kim stated, "This means that each device will understand the individual user on its own, the boundary between the real world at home and the digital space will blur, and the way people communicate with cities and communities will change."
He added, "When the Era of Experience fully arrives, we will be connected to advanced technology optimized for each individual. Instead of users learning how to use more complex and diverse functions, devices will operate autonomously for the users."
He said, "Based on Samsung’s solid investments and proven leadership across artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G, Samsung Electronics has secured a position to lead the Era of Experience," and claimed, "Almost all of Samsung Electronics’ smart devices are connected through AI and IoT, and this proportion will continue to increase."
CEO Kim said, "This year holds special significance as the first year of a new decade," and mentioned, "Samsung Electronics plans to participate in CES again this year to lead technological innovation that changes the world."
He also emphasized the importance of the direction of technological development. CEO Kim explained, "What I want to emphasize in this CES keynote speech is our effort to ensure that such technological advancements work for the good," and added, "I always believe that we must take responsibility for the technology we create, generate better experiences, and ultimately build a better world for everyone to live in."
He continued, "For Samsung Electronics, innovation means enabling humans to maximize their potential," and said, "To this end, we value open collaboration with global partners and the development of new technologies for human progress.
