Korean girl group KARA and songstress IU has claimed top spots on Japan's prestigious Oricon weekly chart with their latest releases, according to Oricon's official website on Thursday.
KARA's new maxi single "SPEED UP/Girls Power," which features the title tracks "SPEED UP" and "Girls Power, took the No. 2 spot on the weekly singles chart after selling 99,236 copies since its release in the country on March 21.
Meanwhile, songstress IU's Japanese debut single "Good Day," composed of its title of the same name and "Raindrop," moved 21,293 copies to score the No. 6 spot on Oricon's weekly album chart.
Both Kara and IU's albums have fared well commercially in Japan, by Kara's "SPEED UP/Girls Power" ranking in No. 2 and IU's "Good Day" sitting at No. 8 on the website's daily singles chart last week.
Kara will soon promote "SPEED UP/Girls Power" in Korea and release figurines of themselves in the country this month, while IU continues with her emcee role in SBS' music program "Inkigayo."
