The second Japanese single by Korean boy band MBLAQ has made its debut at the No. 2 spot on Oricon's music chart, according to its website on Thursday.
Oricon's daily music chart showed that MBLAQ's new single "Baby U!," released in four editions on October 26, sold 22,068 copies to rank in second place behind popular Japanese girl group AKB48.
"Baby U!" had also placed first on the daily chart of Japan's biggest mobile website RecoChoku ahead of its official release and was chosen as the main theme song for Japanese cartoon "Beelzebub."
In the meantime, the group will hold a series of fan meetings to celebrate the new release at the Diamond Hall in Nagoya tomorrow, the Osaka Castle Concert Hall in Osaka on October 29 and the Shinkiba Studio Coast in Tokyo the following day.
MBLAQ made their debut in 2009 with their single album "JUST BLAQ" and expanded their careers into Japan in June this year with "Your Luv." The song was used as the theme song for Japanese animation "Blade."
The boys will focus on their activities in Japan till the end of November and then visit several countries overseas including Taiwan, Las Vegas and Australia.
