Korean actor Lee Chun-hee will replace MBLAQ member Lee Joon in an upcoming SBS TV series.
The show's promoter The J Story announced on Tuesday that Lee Chun-hee will take on the role of an air traffic controller named Kang Dong-soo in new series "Please, Captain" (translated title) set to begin shooting in mid-November.
"I was really drawn to the role of Kang because it is the first time a Korean show is based on aviation. I am studying real hard for this project along with the other actors," Lee was quoted as saying.
Lee Joon was originally cast for the role of Kang but stepped down conflicts between his and the show's schedule.
"We felt that Lee Joon's singing activities are his priority right now since he will be quite busy visiting various countries overseas till the end of the year," an official with J.Tune Camp explained to 10Asia today.
"Please, Captain," also starring Ji Jin-hee, Ku Hye-sun and Yoo Sun, tells the everyday stories of pilots, flight attendants and crew members that work at an airport.
The show is set to take over the Wednesday and Thursday night primetime lineup starting January 4 after current series "Deep Rooted Tree" finishes its run.
Lee Chun-hee made his debut in the movie "A Good Lawyer's Wife" in 2003 and has since starred in several big screen roles such as short film "The Aggressives - Short Trilogy" (2005), "Riverbank Legends" (2006), "Humming" (2007) and "A Million" (2009).
He has also appeared on the small screen including “The Great King Sejong” (KBS, 2008), "Smile, You" (SBS, 2010) and "Gloria" (MBC, 2010).
