'Harry Potter' works magic on local box office

The final Harry Potter film made a smashing debut of topping the Korean box office, pushing three week winner "Transformers" down the chart.Figures by the Korean Box Office System (KOBIS) released on Monday reported that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2" released on July 13, attracted 1,293,151 moviegoers during the weekend of July 15 to 17.The latest Harry Potter film, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, tells of how Harry, Ron and Hermione continue on their quest of finding and destroying the Lord Voldemort's three remaining Horcruxes, the magical items responsible for his immortality."Transformers: Dark of the Moon," starring actors Shia LaBeouf and Josh Duhamel, dropped a notch to second place with 637,106 admissions, while Korean pic "Sunny" maintained its position in third with 183,554 tickets sold.Korean horror flick "The Cat," featuring actress Park Min-young, fell back two spots to No. 4 selling 126,438 tickets and animated picture "Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS.
