On March 2 (local time), Suh Seung-rak, Director of the National Security Office, stated in Singapore regarding the current Middle East crisis, "There is no need for excessive concern."
Director Suh, who is accompanying President Lee Jae-myung on his state visit to Singapore, made these remarks during a briefing at the local press center in the afternoon. He explained, "The government is thoroughly preparing in all sectors, including the real economy, finance, and military security," adding, "The Office of the President is also maintaining an emergency response system." He further emphasized, "I am also continuously checking related matters from here and reporting to the President as needed."
Director Suh also conveyed that President Lee and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong discussed the situation in the Middle East during their summit. He said, "With regard to the Middle East crisis, the two leaders reviewed the impact on global security, energy supply, and the world economy, and agreed on the importance of swift stabilization in the region." He added, "Once again, it was confirmed that cooperation between the two countries as middle powers is essential to this end."
