Lee Jangwoo: "By around 2048, Daejeon will be leading all of Korea's core industries"
On March 2, Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, successfully concluded a book concert for his publication, "Daejeon: The City of Great Pioneers Transforming Korea, Strategy and Action," at the Grand Ballroom on the 2nd floor of Exhibition Hall 1 at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.
The event was attended by over 3,000 guests, including former National Assembly Member Yang Hee Lee, former Speaker of the National Assembly Changhee Kang, former National Assembly Member Lee Inje, Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam Province, Minho Choi, Mayor of Sejong City, Assemblywoman Na Kyungwon, Assemblyman Park Deokheum, Assemblyman Kang Seungkyu, Assemblywoman Bae Hyunjin, Assemblyman Park Junghoon, Supreme Council Member Yang Hyangja, Lee Eungwon, Chairman of the Daejeon City Branch of the People Power Party, Jo Wonhui, Chairman of the Daejeon City Council, former Vice Minister of Education Kim Shinho, Park Heejo, Mayor of Dong-gu District, Seo Cheolmo, Mayor of Seo-gu District, Choi Chungkyu, Mayor of Daedeok-gu District, Lee Sangrae, Head of the Dong-gu Party Committee, Jo Suyeon, Head of the Seogu-gap Party Committee, Yang Honggyu, Head of the Seogu-eul Party Committee, Lee Taekgu, Head of the Yuseong-gap Party Committee, Park Kyungho, Head of the Daedeok-gu Party Committee, and Kim Jeonggyeom, President of Chungnam National University, who gathered to offer their congratulations.
Assemblyman Park Junghoon (Seoul Songpa-gu Gap) stated, "The clear reason I respect and care for Mayor Lee Jangwoo is because I have never met a politician as loyal as him," emphasizing his strong sense of loyalty.
Minho Choi, Mayor of Sejong City, said, "A mere politician thinks about the next election, but a true statesman thinks about the next generation. The growth of a city cannot exceed the capacity of its leader," praising Mayor Lee Jangwoo for his ambitious preparations for 2048.
Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam Province, remarked, "Watching Mayor Lee Jangwoo's book concert, I thought he must have given a lot of thought to how to develop Daejeon. Especially, I realized he has agonized over how to revitalize the city under the current Seoul-centric system."
He went on to highly praise Mayor Lee, stating, "One of his greatest strengths as a leader is his precise decision-making and the powerful drive he demonstrates to deliver results once a decision is made."
He also shared his opinion on the administrative integration of Daejeon and Chungnam, which the government and the ruling party are pushing forward in a hasty manner.
He insisted, "The government and the ruling party must not push through the hollow bill for the integration of Daejeon and Chungnam. They must create a proper bill and pursue integration accordingly."
He warned, "With such a rushed and insubstantial bill, it will not be easy for anyone to lead the integrated city. This would only expose significant risks of division, conflict, and confusion."
Former National Assembly Member Lee Inje commented, "The world is undergoing remarkable changes every single day, and at the center of this transformation are science and technology. Watching the book concert, I believe Mayor Lee Jangwoo is developing into a truly remarkable figure. I think it won't be long before he becomes President," highlighting him as a future leader.
Assemblywoman Na Kyungwon said, "These days, Daejeon has become such a hot place that it ranks first among the cities people most want to visit. Mayor Lee Jangwoo's creation of the 'Daejeon Zero Hour Festival' has greatly contributed to Daejeon emerging as a hot spot," commending his administrative achievements.
She added, "There is a clear reason why I like Mayor Lee Jangwoo. In times of chaos, only clear and courageous leaders can overcome the challenges of the era."
Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "By around 2048, I expect Daejeon to lead all of Korea's core industries. The city will emerge as the world's premier bio cluster, Daejeon's robotics sector will dominate the global market, and if Korea advances to become a G2 nation, Daejeon will play a pivotal role in quantum industries, nuclear fusion research, and energy."
He went on to emphasize, "Daejeon is the center of Korea's science, technology, and future industries. I will build Daejeon into a global, world-class economic city leading Korea in 2048."
Mayor Lee remarked, "It is time for Daejeon to leap forward as a world-class economic city and a global economic and scientific capital. In particular, we will foster six major strategic industries, including 'ABCDQ+R' -- A (Aerospace), B (Bio), C (Nano and Semiconductors), D (Defense Industry), Q (Quantum Technology), and R (Robotics and Drones) -- to transform Daejeon into a hub for future industries."
