Naju City in South Jeolla Province has begun full-scale efforts to attract tourists by launching the first incentive payment for its "Naju 1 Night 2 Benefits" program, which is being promoted to boost stay-type tourism in celebration of the "2026 Year of Visiting Naju."
On March 2, Naju City announced that it had selected the first recipient of the "Naju 1 Night 2 Benefits" incentive and delivered the payment.
There has been strong interest and participation from the very beginning of the program, with a total of 50 people selected as beneficiaries as of the first payment date.
The first recipients were a family of six visiting from Anseong city, Gyeonggi Province. The family, consisting of two adults and four children, stayed at least one night in Naju and visited at least one tourist attraction, receiving a total incentive of 140,000 won.
This family experienced Naju's history, nature, and cityscape by visiting attractions such as the Hwangpo sailboat, the National Naju Museum, Geumseonggwan, and the Bitgaram Observatory.
Lee Sangyoung, who received the incentive on behalf of the family, said, "It was our first time visiting Naju with the children, and I was surprised by how well the tourism content was prepared. I could tell that a lot of effort had gone into preparing for the Year of Visiting Naju, and we would consider visiting again."
The "Naju 1 Night 2 Benefits" program provides up to 150,000 won in support depending on the criteria, when tourists from other regions stay at least one night in Naju and visit at least one tourist attraction.
The incentive is provided either as the Naju Love Gift Certificate (given on-site) or as points for Najumall (online).
In particular, an additional 20,000 won is provided to families accompanied by children under the age of 18, actively encouraging family-based stay tourism.
Naju City plans to further strengthen its stay-type tourism platform by building a virtuous cycle that increases the length of stay of outside tourists and revitalizes the local economy through a consumption structure that links accommodation and tourism.
A Naju City official stated, "Through practical support policies that combine accommodation and tourism, we will shift from day-trip tourism to stay-type tourism. We will expand the structure in which tourists stay and spend in Naju, laying the foundation for the era of 5 million Naju tourists."
